Royal Ascot winner Commissioned is still on course for the Qatar Goodwood Cup after his victory in the Queen Alexandra Stakes.
The six-year-old produced a fine staying performance to come out on top in Berkshire last month in his debut for trainer Gordon Elliott.
Part-owner Nick Bradley has conceded he faces a step up in class on the Sussex Downs next month but hopes Commissioned will be able to push for the Melbourne Cup in the future.
“He’s back in training and the Goodwood Cup is the plan,” said Bradley.
“In my opinion, the best run of his life so far was at Cartmel last summer, which is a tight, turning track.
“Goodwood is obviously quite similar and, on the face of it, I think Goodwood should actually suit him better than Ascot.
“We’ll go there very hopeful and the idea is to get him qualified for Melbourne now. That is our main aim.”
