Monday‘s meeting at Ayr has been abandoned following an inspection on Sunday, which found the track to be waterlogged.
Heavy rain on Saturday, following snow on Friday, forced the inspection and the decision to call off Monday’s meeting was a “straightforward” one.
“It was a very straightforward decision,” clerk of the course Emma Marley said, as reported by the Racing Post.
“We had more rain than anticipated overnight, 15mm, plus melting snow. We have had another 5mm up to 9am and up to 10mm is forecast.
“We have had an unprecedented amount of rain since November.”
