Lingfield Listed double for Tate

James Tate saddled a Listed race double at as jockey Luke Morris enjoyed a treble on the card.

Lamar went one better than 12 months ago when winning the Fleur De Lys Fillies’ Stakes over a mile in the hands of Morris.

Off the track since finishing well down the field in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal in June, Lamar raced just in behind the leaders before hitting the front after the turn into the straight.

The favourite Very Special came with a late thrust down the centre of the track, but Lamar had enough in hand to win by half-a-length, with 25/1 shot Clarentine in third.

Tate had earlier sent out Urban Castle to spring a 16/1 shock in the River Eden Fillies’ Stakes over one-mile, five furlongs.

Ridden by Adam Kirby, Urban Castle was settled towards the rear of the field as the Morris-ridden Alwilda set the pace after being bustled along early to take the lead.

Twitch made a move to join the lead turning out of the back straight before a gap opened up on the inside rail for Robert Havlin on California.

‘s filly took it up off the home turn, but Urban Castle came with a strong run down the middle of the track to win a by a decisive length from California.

Morris had started the day on a winning note by taking the first division of the Fillies’ Maiden on ‘s Our Joy before subsequently scoring aboard Marco Botti’s Crazy Chic in the 7f Handicap.

‘s Vaunting made a successful debut when beating the -on favourite Impressive Day in the second division of the Fillies’ Maiden.

Oisin Murphy and Saeed Bin Suroor had endured three runners-up placings on the card before finally striking in the penultimate race as Race Day landed the odds in the 7f Maiden.
