Roger Charlton has admitted Time Test faces a huge challenge against favourite Golden Horn in the Juddmonte International at York.
Unbeaten Derby winner Golden Horn is highly fancied in the Group One showdown on August 19 at the Knavesmire and is expected to have too much for his rivals on the day.
Charlton’s Time Test claimed the Group Three Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier this summer in impressive style but the trainer knows the Juddmonte International represents a step up in class.
“It’s all systems go at the moment,” said the Beckhampton handler. “I think Golden Horn is clearly the best three-year-old and possibly the best horse in Europe at the moment.
“We’re stepping up from a Group Three, and I’ll be delighted to finish second or third in a race of that calibre behind a horse like that.
“Equally, racing is about challenges and if we can take his scalp, which is never impossible in a race, then it would be a great scalp to take.”
