Connections say The Grey Gatsby is “absolutely bang on where we want him” ahead of the Juddmonte International at York.
The Grey Gatsby is set for a rematch with Coral-Eclipse conqueror Golden Horn on August 19 as he seeks a first win of 2015.
Gleneagles and Time Test are also expected to be involved in what could well be a highly competitive Group 1 contest, but trainer Kevin Ryan‘s son Adam feels the four-year-old is a real contender for a win at York.
“The Grey Gatsby is absolutely bang on where we want him and he’s all set for York,” the Racing Post quotes him as saying. “Golden Horn is obviously a very, very good horse, but The Grey Gatsby loves York – he has twice won there and was a fine second in the race last year.
“No horse is unbeatable, although it looks that way with Golden Horn at the moment, and I think we are going there with a great chance. It should be some race with Gleneagles and Time Test also in the mix and great to watch.”
The Grey Gatsby has raced at York four times in his career to date and has managed two wins and two runner-up spots.
