McCoy “looking forward” to Jezki ride

Tony McCoy believes the good form of Jezki will play a massive part to clinch victory in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The festival, which gets underway at Prestbury Park on March 10, will be the last time the 19-time Champion jockey features in the meeting due to his imminent retirement.

McCoy has a number of scheduled runners for Cheltenham but the 40-year-old, 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner has revealed Jezki is the horse he is looking forward to riding in the Champion Hurdle.

The seven-year-old bay gelding won the title last year with Barry Geraghty on-board and McCoy is hoping this experience will prove crucial in retaining the crown at Cheltenham.

“The horse I’m most looking forward to riding at the Festival is Jezki. I think he has got the best chance of winning,” he is quoted by BBC Sport as saying. “I know Faugheen is the one that they are all talking about, but there’s no form like Champion Hurdle form.”

McCoy has tasted success in the Champion Hurdle on three previous occasions, with the last triumph coming back in 2010 on the impressive Binocular.
