Graham Buddry looks back at a colt who ended a legacy
At the start of each new flat season, trainers harbour the hope that perhaps one of their untried two-yearolds may prove to be a world beater. These hopes are often completely dashed, sometimes they are raised to heady expectations, only to find a superior colt exists elsewhere, but once in a while a colt comes along who takes the breath away.
We look today at the Salisbury Stakes run over five furlongs on May 13, 1970 where the 2/9 favourite for the race was an impressive colt called Fireside Chat.
