Many horses featured in these pages have been exemplary beasts who have won the biggest prizes, been awarded best of their class or run exhilarating races against other champions. These are rightly honoured but some deserve their place because of the heart-warming adoration earned from racing fans over many years. The Tatling is one such horse.
