A cold grey day at Goodwood on September 6 was the setting for one of racing greatest supporters, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s final winner, Love Affairs trained by Clive Cox in a 6f nursery. A few days before that, the Royal silks had been carried to victory by two colts trained by Sir Michael Stoute, one of Her Late Majesty’s most successful trainers, Circle Of Fire at Salisbury and Theme Park at Kempton, with the former impressing with his success in a one-mile novice.
