Before I succumbed to the cold on an arctic Monday at Plumpton racecourse I made the effort to chat with one of the stalwarts of UK horse racing, Bill Turner.
I first met Bill at the Ascot sales many years ago. I had probably foolishly bought a young filly for next to nothing.
She was good looker but I soon witnessed why there were no other bids. She was a nutty as a fruit cake with a hatred of horse boxes.
