I am surprised to see GUARD YOUR DREAMS at such a big price in the December Gold Cup on Saturday as in my view he looks weighted to go close which will make a nice change for connections. He has started his chasing career in novice handicap chases where he has ultimately been punished for having a higher hurdle mark than most of his rivals so far. He has though, performed admirably in defeat when carrying bigger weights so the opportunity to carry quite a bit less is obviously an attractive proposition for connections. He obviously doesn’t have the experience that some of his rivals have over fences but he has plenty of runs over hurdles under his belt, I’m not too worried about that.
I was surprised to see the handicapper only raised GEORGI GIRL 5lb for winning at Warwick last time out. They couldn’t have thought much of the race as she definitely won in the manner of a horse who had more than 5lb up her sleeve but I actually think the form will prove to be decent. Up in grade tomorrow, she will need to improve again but having seen her up close at Ludlow on her first run, she is quite a specimen so I’m not surprised she is now improving as she grows into her frame.
