There is an end of season feel to tomorrow’s racing and I don’t anticipate going into battle that often.
The 7f handicap at Ascot is always one I like to have a pop at and my main hope this year is the classy POPMASTER. Ed Walker’s admirable 6 year old has been mixing it in Group level this year and although running respectably he hasn’t quite been up to that level. A return to his favourite course on a softer surface should see a return to his very best and I anticipate a bold showing at tasty prices.
The Grand National is soon approaching! The most famous horse race in the world is hugely popular with punters from across the UK and further afield. The 2025 edition takes place on Saturday, 5th April with a scheduled start time of 4.00pm BST.
If the weight proves too much then I hope my second poke, AKKADIAN THUNDER can go close down the bottom of the weights. David O’Meara’s charge looks unexposed on turf with only a handful of starts this year. He was a bit of an eye catcher last time over course and distance and providing the softer conditions don’t hold him back I think he too can go well.
Over in Ireland, connections of GREEK FLOWER will be glad of a better draw having been drawn out on the wing in her last couple of races away from where the action has taken place. A reliable and consistent performer she will be coming home strong and I hope she gets to the line first.
