Longines World’s Best Jockey booked for three rides at Sha Tin on Sunday
Ryan Moore has ridden one winner from eight rides in Hong Kong this season
– Ryan Moore will be aboard the John Size-trained Ensued in the Hong Kong Classic Cup, the second leg of the four-year-old Classic Series, at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Moore will be bidding for his second win in the HK$13 million (approx. £1.3 million) prize after his success on Sun Jewellery in 2016, when also teaming up with Size.
Ensued has proved a success since his transfer to Hong Kong, winning three of his five starts, and this won’t be the first time Moore has partnered the former James Fanshawe-trained gelding, having finished second aboard the son of Lemon Drop Kid at Kempton in April 2023.
A top three finish for Ensued in the Classic Cup would give him priority to run in next month’s Hong Kong Derby, the most valuable four-year-old contest in the Hong Kong season, worth HK$24 million (approx. £2.4 million).
Moore, who was crowned Longines World’s Best Jockey at Hong Kong’s International Races meeting in December, has been booked for two further rides for Size on Sunday – Must Go in the Essex Handicap and Simple Hedge in the Somerset Handicap.
Sha Tin’s 10-race card begins at 5am (UK time) on Sunday, with the Hong Kong Classic Cup scheduled to go off at 8:05am.
