Day 1 of Glorious Goodwood and although the weather isn’t all that glorious at present the racing on show should make up for it.
I start my week with 2 bets in the Chesterfield Cup handicap and my main fancy is SOTO SIZZLER. Gary Moore has taken over the training duties from David Meneusier over the winter and he looks to have lined him up for this race today. A classy horse on his day, he has shown a preference for undulating tracks like Goodwood and Epsom and he has now dropped to his last winning mark. Son, Ryan Moore, does the steering and yesterdays price of 18/1 has soon been nibbled in.
In the same race I find it hard not to Chuck a fiver at KITSUNE POWER who finished second in the race last year. He hasn’t done a lot wrong in his career so far and is clearly a capable horse on his day. He too looks to have been primed for a big effort in a bid to go one better than last year. 40/1 looks far too big.
Later on the card I fancy another Gary Moore inmate, this time in the shape of young improving filly NOVUS. She has been very consistent in all her races so far in her short career and boasts some useful course form to her name. All her other form stacks up well and I will be surprised if she isn’t in the mix here.
