It looks like it could be an informative day today in the world of National Hunt racing with plenty of young horses making their first start of the season. I’m hoping SERGEANT WILSON could just be one of the best of them and he has certainly been backed as if he is. He was an emphatic winner of a Taunton bumper despite unshipping his rider pre race and doing a lap of the track. That showed he must have some sort of engine in place and the fact he has been sold to top connections since suggests he could be very smart. At 10/3 last night he was certainly a bet but now at 7/4 he might just be one to follow.
One at a much better price over at Chepstow is STANS THE MAN who goes hurdling after dominating a course bumper a few weeks back. I was really impressed with him and how he ran right through the line. I think it is a wise decision from connections to go straight over hurdles as he clearly has bundles of stamina and will certainly be better suited to the extra distance he encounters today. The front two at the top of market were very smart bumper horses but if they have any doubts over race fitness or chinks in their armour then I think this lad could expose them.
