I think you can mark up Friday
CAP FRANCAIS run last time out at Chester when he ran on powerfully to finish second. His run previous at Newmarket suggested Ian Williams had got him back to his best and I didn’t see anything to suggest he can’t win off his current mark. He won’t mind the slight bit of ease that is in the ground and he has ran well over this unique course before so I think he will go well at a decent price.
In the big race itself I think NASHWA can serve it up to her stablemate Emily Upjohn and steal Epsom glory. She has looked all class in her starts this season and her ability to travel so easily will really help her in todays big race. Hollie Doyle hasn’t hidden her admiration for her mount and I think she is the value bet of the race. Epsom 3.45 – Cap Francais
Epsom 4.30 – Nashwa
Saturday
In the big race itself tomorrow I like the claims of a few but I think STONE AGE is the one that has captured my imagainatiom the most. Aidan O’Brien is clearly no stranger to Derby success and his number 1 hope this year looks to have had a fantastic prep for this after demolishing his rivals last time out. It was quite clear he was a cut above his rivals that day and demonstrated just how much he has improved from last season. He’s drifted to 4/1 in the last few days and if that continues he soon becomes a pretty safe each way bet.
I want to put up ROYAL PATRONAGE as well just because I think he is completely the wrong price. I make him a 12/1 shot or around that mark not the 33/1 which he is openly available at. The favourite beat him comfortably at York but with two extra furlongs and a return to this track in his favour I think he might not be that far away from him this time and that should put him in the top 5 I think.
Epsom 4.30 – Stone Age / Royal Patronage
