CROWDS return to Ayr Racecourse today (Wednesday) for the first time since March 2020 with 250 in attendance in addition to annual members.
The limited tickets were snapped up very quickly and those lucky enough to have got one will see an exciting seven race card.
The feature race is the Dream Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap over a mile at 3.23pm and the likely favourite is the Tim Easterby trained Garden Oasis who has finished second on each of his two starts this season. James Sullivan takes the mount on the six year-old whose opponents in the nine strong field include two Mark Johnston trained runners in Dontaskmeagain, the mount of Ben Curtis, and Streak Lightning to be ridden by Olly Stammers.
Only five runners go to post in the one mile five furlong handicap at 2.18pm and the most interesting of these is Greengage who won over a three furlong shorter trip at the track in April but shouldn’t be inconvenienced by the step up in trip. Paul Mulrennan takes the mount for trainer Tristan Davidosn.
The biggest field of the afternoon is in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap over one mile two furlongs at 2.50pm and the Mike Smith trained Royal Countess with Paddy Mathers riding will be looking for his second course and distance win.
Grant Tuer’s Gunnerside goes for his fifth win from seven starts this year in the Bet At racingtv.com Handicap over five furlongs at 3.55pm and if handling the quick ground should take all the beating with regular jockey Sam James again taking the mount.
