SEVENAL is a pretty obvious selection today being Frankie Dettori‘s only ride at Nottingham but he has done enough on the track to justify being a selection anyway. Appearing not to stay on his return at Doncaster, he dropped back to the mile at Windsor and despite hanging badly he managed to cling on to victory. The form of that race hasn’t been tested too much since so it is hard to get a gauge on what he has actually achieved but to the eye it seemed as if he had plenty left as he crossed the line. The application of cheek pieces today should focus his mind and if it does a mark of 84 certainly looks workable.
The 7.30 a classic Ripon sprint with plenty of old favourites in there. I have backed majority of the field before so I’m bound to get my fingers burnt somehow but I like the chances of I AM A DREAMER today who lines up off bottom weight. His trainer a dab hand with sprinters and I’m sure this horse will land a good pot at some point this summer if not today. His sixth in a competitive Great St Wilfrid handicap last summer is good form and that’s not the first time he has performed well here. He is now lower in the handicap than he was then and I’m sure he is better than his run at Hamilton last time out suggests.
