The flat season is well and truly upon us now and I love these midweek festivals that the summer throws up. Having said that the downpour that York received yesterday afternoon may make things pretty testing today and I advise looking for soft ground horses.
RHYTHMIC INTENT is just that and I think Stuart Williams‘ horse is ready to run a big race after a recent pipe opener at Chelmsford. All of his best form has come on soft and his second in the November handicap last year is an eye catching bit of form. From a two pound higher mark today he must have a really strong chance and his love for soft ground should negate his disadvantage of a high draw. At 9/1 I think he is a solid each way play.
Similar comments apply to GULLIVER in the 2.10. He is a real course specialist and a horse with his record on this track on soft ground cannot be ignored today. David O’Meara would no doubt have him spot on for this and although no one is sure if the draw is a good one or not, he does have plenty of pace around him so I don’t anticipate that being a problem.
