Potter expecting big things from Mister Fisher
Owner James Potter says Mister Fisher has what it takes to shine at Cheltenham this week as he prepares to run in the Ryanair Chase.
The seven-year-old won on his last outing to Prestbury Park, with Nico De Boinville guiding him home in December in the Fitzdares Club Loves The Peterborough Chase.
Mister Fisher was pulled up in November at Cheltenham, but Nicky Henderson‘s charge is fit and ready for Thursday‘s big race.
Potter, who owns several horses with his wife Jean, also has Our Power and Two Taffs in the Ryanair, but the blueprint for Mister Fisher has already been laid out.
If he produces a good run this week, Henderson believes he should be targeted for the King George VI Chase at Kempton in December.
Speaking ahead of the Festival, Potter told reporters: “He’s going for the Ryanair – he’d be about an 8-1 shot for that.
“We’ll see how he runs, but if he runs well, then you’d have to think about it. He’s the sort of horse that race would suit – but he would have to run well at Cheltenham.
“Whether he’s a Gold Cup horse, I don’t know, but Nicky always mentions Kempton.”
