Image the consequences if, somehow, the BHB were to organise a referendum on whether British racing should retain handicaps and it went the way of Mark Johnston’s view on the matter. We would lose the Lincoln, the Royal Hunt Cup, the Ebor, the Cambridgeshire. My God! We would lose the Grand National! This surely is the road to where true madness lives!
