Racing and football have long been comfortable bedfellows and it easy to understand why. With time to spare in the afternoons once the training is over countless well known soccer players have enjoyed a punt on the horses.
It also helps that many jockeys down the years have fancied themselves as energetic midfield dynamos in the mould of Billy Bremner and Xavi or, more likely, fleet-footed strikers such as Messi.
