Kevin McDonnell picked up the racing bug at the tender age of seven when he was made to wait outside the local bookie’s for his dad and grandad. He could hear the commentary and that was all. The shop window was painted out as advertising wasn’t allowed but his imagination ran riot based solely on the excitement and urgency of the ‘blower’ and he pictured the inside of the shop as a riot of colour, noise and animation.
