Our Man at Newmarket

NEWMARKET is buzzing here out on the gallops with the recent news that racing is due to resume at Newcastle at the start of June, don’t worry we will be ready with our horses here at HQ and for our first meeting also next month on the Rowley Mile course. William Knight moved into Rathmoy Stables last week and the horses have settled in nicely at the yard, William look set for a good time here at HQ.

WEDNESDAY saw a number of horses out on the recently opened watered gallop and several are on the work sheet to go on there early tomorrow morning. It will be a 5.30am start out there for me in the morning as I want to see some of the two-year-olds put through their paces by the trainers,we also have a number of top jockeys coming in early to ride work including Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori.

TANITA worked well on Wednesday under Louis Steward for Sir Michael Stoute, the daughter of Frankel really pointed her toe and went about her work in most pleasing fashion. HIGHEST GROUND continue to show his prowess for the Freemason Lodge trainer and the stable can’t wait to get the son of Frankel onto the racecourse to gain more experience in view of him having had just the one outing when winning on debut last season.

SIMON Crisford had his juvenile colt by Frankel out of Rizeena swinging along nicely this week in his work, it has now been named LATEST GENERATION and is starting to look a very nice type for the Gainsborough yard, I think a lot will be heard of this colt next season when he has fully furnished.

IN the Charlie Fellowes yard nothing is working better than LONDON ARCH, this bay colt is by Fastnet Rock out of a Montjeu mare and his work lately has been that of a most progressive horse, he is most highly rated in the Bedford House string and look in for a very good season for this team.

I plan to be out with the Haggas team in the morning to monitor there progress, former trainer Luca Cumani has sent them SAIGON to train for his Fitttocks Stud, this son of Frankel is out of Silk Sari, although given plenty of time to mature it is clear in his work that he is most talented.
