Three good cards today with York, Newmarket
& Chepstow all hosting some really nice horses. I will be watching closely
at Chepstow but I can’t muster a tip from there so I’ve found one at York and
at Newmarket.
At
York I think FAVOURITE MOON has a
favourite’s chance in the 1m 6f handicap and William Haggas must think the
same. He was ante post favourite for the Old Rowley Cup at Newmarket but Haggas
stated he would to go to York as it was likely to be an easier assignment and
that could turn out to be a very good bit of training from Haggas. It would
have been easy to go for the bigger pot but this is a much more winnable
opportunity and such an attitude can be rewarded. He handles soft ground, is
improving and could turn out to be a lot better than his rivals. There are a
few lurking down at the bottom but my selection should be going close if he
runs up to his form.
In
the Old Rowley Cup I thought TRITONIC was
overpriced at 20/1. Alan King won the race last year and despite his charge
having a lot of weight today I do think he has a good chance. He put a career
best in at Ascot when a close second on soft ground and his ability to handle
underfoot conditions today will stand him in good stead. I’m not too sure how
many of these will handle the soft ground and it does have a bit of an end of
season feel to it so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a shock result. Hopefully,
it will be Tritonic causing the upset.
York 2.40 – Favourite Moon – 2pt win
Newmarket 4.10 – Tritonic – 1pt e/w
