Egan ‘gutted’ to miss Mishriff ride

David Egan says he is “gutted” to miss a second successive ride on Mishriff after being handed a five-day ban.

Egan is retained by Mishriff’s owner Prince Faisal and was expected to partner the three-year-old in the Group 2 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville on Saturday.

However, the former champion apprentice has been handed a five-day ban, which prevents him from riding this weekend, due to an incident at .

He was unable to travel to France due to a travel ban when Mishriff claimed the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly last time out and admits he is “gutted” to be on the sidelines again.

Egan said: “I’m gutted to be missing out on Mishriff again as I’m banned for five days from after an incident at .

“When he won the French there were no overseas riders allowed in so I couldn’t go, but it was no surprise he won as he’s a good horse and before that I’d won a Listed race on him at in June. Hopefully I can get back on him next time.”
