Rachael Blackmore is relishing the opportunity to add an Irish Derby to her list of achievements after being confirmed to ride King Of The Throne.
Blackmore has won many a prestigious jumping title but is excited by the prospect of landing Irish Flat racing‘s biggest prize, having teamed up with Emmet Mullins, nephew of legendary trainer Willie.
The pair shared success with Oriental Eagle at Limerick last week for the jockey’s first Flat stakes success and will look to upset the odds on general 50/1 chance King Of The Throne at the Curragh.
“To be riding in the Irish Derby is pretty cool for me and a fantastic opportunity to get,” said Blackmore.
“It’s such a prestigious race, and to get an opportunity to do it is a massive deal.
“It’s great to be doing it for Emmet as well – we teamed up last weekend for a Listed winner, so it’s a fantastic opportunity to be getting.
“It’s a massive deal to ride in a race like this, a real honour, to be honest.”
