Laurens on course for 1000 Guineas – Burke

Trainer Karl Burke insists Laurens is looking good as she continues preparations ahead of the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Burke has been preparing his charge for the Qipco 1000 Guineas race on May 6 and feels she is showing good form as the date draws closer.

Laurens showed up well in 2017 as she won three of her four outings and came home second in the other, which saw her emerge as a potential star of the future.

The Leyburn-based trainer insists the Newmarket event is still the target but admitted that they are still considering the Musidora Stakes at York 10 days later.

Burke said: “I'm very happy with her. She did a little bit of work this morning and did it very well.

“At the moment we're all on target for May.

“If she runs in the Guineas, she'll go straight there. If she doesn't go there it will be because we'll be going for the Musidora, but at the moment we're going for the Guineas.”
