Trainer Nicky Henderson has confirmed Altior will feature in Saturday's Betfair Exchange Chase at Newbury if the ground is suitable.
The eight-year-old has been missing since last April after enjoying a good start to 2017, with victory in the Arkle Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival before making it six wins from six outings over fences in the Celebration Chase at Sandown.
Altior was sidelined by wind surgery but is now ready to start his comeback in the two-mile Grade Two ahead of trying to live up to his favourite tag in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham next month.
Henderson tweeted: “Altior has been given an entry for @NewburyRacing on Saturday and the intention is very much to run. His work has been good and we're very happy. We'll keep an eye on the weather but if it stays Good to Soft/Soft, he'll be declared.”
