Walsh planning February return

says his recovery is on track and he plans to return to competitive action towards the end of February.

Walsh, who has won the International Jockey of the Year Lester Award three times, broke his leg when falling from Let's Dance at on November 18 and there were initial fears he would miss the 2018 in March.

However, the signs are positive regarding the 38-year-old's recovery and he revealed everything is right on plan to enable him to feature at the coveted meeting at Prestbury Park.

The jockey told UK: “I'd say it's looking mid to late February (for a return to action) – that would be the plan. The physio is going well and the doctors are happy with the bone.

“It's essentially 12 weeks for the bone to heal and then how many ever weeks it takes you to get right. Seven and a half (weeks) done, seven and a half to go.”
