The Tin Man set for Haydock run

Trainer James Fanshawe has confirmed The Tin Man's next run is likely to be in September's Sprint Cup at .

The five-year-old was an impressive winner in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at in June but was unable to replicate that form in the at , finishing in eighth place.

Fanshawe conceded the Newmarket run may have come too soon after The Tin Man's success although he felt it was never a race the horse was likely to win.

“The best horse won but I felt The Tin Man was never really at the races,” Fanshawe said. “He never really got into it. It was quite close to Ascot and perhaps the Diamond Jubilee took more out of him than I thought it had.”

The bay gelding had been tipped to run in next month's at but Fanshawe has now revealed he plans to swerve that meeting in favour of the Group One Sprint Cup.

“He's very well and came out of the race in good form and we're aiming for Haydock and then Ascot [Champions Sprint],” Fanshawe added.

Fanshawe has enjoyed previous success in the Sprint Cup after he trained Society Rock to glory in the race five years ago.
