Breeders’ Cup a target for Dutch Connection

feel Dutch Connection should now step up in trip and are looking at the Breeders' Cup Mile as a possible target.

The four-year-old was last seen in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville and was far from disgraced when finishing fifth behind the winner Signs Of Blessing.

He was sent to France, having won the at on July 26, and looked to have a decent chance to take the race despite it being half-a-furlong shorter.

However, he could not keep on terms with the leading lights and will now return to a mile.

Trainer feels things were not in Dutch Connection's favour over the Channel and he will now seek a few races to make sure his charge is ready for Santa Anita in November.

“Thankfully he's come out of the race well and I think we found out he's not a sprinter,” said Hills. “I don't think the draw was too clever and just the way the race panned out, it took the race away from us, but I still think he ran with great credit.

“We will look for some mile races on turning tracks. He's been left in the Celebration Mile at , but if the ground came up on the quick side, we'd look at the Prix du Moulin.

“The main priority at the moment is the Breeders' Cup Mile and we'll try to work back from there.”
