The opening juvenile maiden at Windsor is likely to throw up any number of winners in the weeks to come with some speedily bred two-year-olds making their racecourse debuts. Charlie Hills saddles a couple and the booking of Ryan Moore for Shanghai Glory looks significant but Archimedes (5.30) cost connections E240,000 back in September and is certainly bred to be sharp.
Drawn in stall three this son of Invincible Spirit is trained by Paul Cole who is yet to have a juvenile winner this term but this will only be his second runner.
Gossiping (6.00) finished best of the newcomers in what is usually a hot 7f maiden at the Newmarket Craven meeting last month and Charlie Appleby has transferred his excellent all-weather season to turf in recent weeks. This step up to a mile will suit, William Buick keeps the ride and this well bred colt will get further in time.
The form of Wonder Laish's (6.30) third to Master Apprentice over a mile her back in October was franked when the winner won the Group 3 Classic Trial at Sandown on Friday. The selection holds entries in the Dante at York next month and the Irish Derby at the Curragh the following month so he is obviously held in some regard by the excellent William Haggas.
Felix Fabulla (7.30) ran well coming back from a 630 day break when runner up at Southwell last month and the handicapper has left him on the same mark for his switch to turf. The 5-y-old has only had ten career starts and won two including off a 1lb higher mark over today's trip as a three-year-old.
Acaster Malbis is likely to go off a very short price for the 7f maiden at Kempton but he has already had six career starts and preference is for Highest Level (2.15) who shaped with promise when runner up at Redcar on his sole start over six furlongs back in October. This additional furlong should suit, he has a plum draw in one and he can overturn the likely Hannon hotpot.
The filly Dubai Breeze (2.50) looked ready for another furlong when a beaten favourite at Lingfield back in August and William Buick retains the ride having ridden the filly on her last couple of juvenile starts.
Another stepping up in trip is Mon Cigar (3.20) who is coming back from a break having shaped like he was ready for a step up to a mile when runner up at Lingfield on his last two starts back in the autumn. The gelding didn't run particularly well on his sole start here at Kempton previously and has looked a tricky ride on occasions, but he was going the right way when last seen and looked unlucky not to break his maiden last time.
