Craig Williams has revealed his delight after being named as the man to ride Protectionist in the Peter Young Stakes later this month.
Protectionist claimed the coveted Emirates Melbourne Cup in November and has been linked with a whole host of top names ahead of the Group 2 meeting later this month.
However, German trainer Andreas Wohler believes that Williams, who last rode the four-year-old at the Herbert Power Stakes in October, is the best man for the job.
Williams admitted that he was delighted to be handed the opportunity and he hopes to live up to the expectations.
Williams said: “It is great to be back on him for sure and I’m delighted to get the call up,
“I just want to get the right result for the horse and the owners.”
