Jonjo O’Neill has admitted wet weather could deny Holywell the chance to get in a prep race ahead of next month’s Cheltenham Festival.
Holywell has been forced to pull out of the Betfair Denman Chase at Newbury on Saturday due to recent weather conditions.
The eight-year-old has not raced since he unseated his rider at Aintree at the start of December and O’Neill is concerned over a lack of competitive edge.
O’Neill admitted that he is quickly running out of options with Kelso‘s Ivan Straker Memorial Chase next Thursday looking like their last chance of a tune-up.
O’Neill said: “Holywell will miss out, as the ground won’t suit him.
“We’ll enter him at Kelso, and we’ll see if they get some good ground up there. If not, he’ll go straight to Cheltenham.”
