Willie Mullins is buzzing at the prospect of Un De Sceaux running at Cheltenham after Sunday’s superb victory at Leopardstown.
The seven-year-old came unstuck on his chasing debut at Thurles in November last year but bounced back from that fall to score over the bigger obstacles at Fairyhouse last month.
And the son of Denham Red proved that it was no flash in the pan with a sensational triumph in the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Chase at the foot of the Dublin Mountains.
Despite giving Grade One winner Clarcam plenty of weight, the gelding secured a 15-lenghth victory to enhance his growing reputation and is now odds-on for the Arkle Trophy at the Festival in March.
And Mullins clearly likes what he sees, saying: “He passed his test with flying colours and we look forward to going over the water with him.”
