AT the time of writing this article, Newmarket is suffering the dreaded drought just like everywhere else. None of the grass gallops are being used, only the all weather training facilities. It is very restricting for trainers as horses need to work on grass as it bring them on much quicker, even the watered gallop over Racecourse side is closed as the Jockey Club want to save the water for the Racecourses.
