WE are greeted out on the gallops here at Newmarket in the mornings now with dew on the grass and mist in the air but it is still most delightful to be out there watching all the as yet unraced two-year-olds having their work upped in readiness to get them onto the racecourse. Most of my beloved swallows have started to depart for warmer parts for the winter, how I dislike seeing them go and can't wait for next spring to see them return.
