John Anthony keeps close watch on the top ranking track fliers

IT’S good to see the Champion Stakes topping the speed figures this month with ANMAAT and CALANDAGAN both top of the tree on 111 after their battle through the Ascot mud.
It is deeply unsatisfactory to have such a big race run on the hurdles track and it really needs to go back to Newmarket where the ground is likely to be better even at this time of the year.
Anmaat burst through to score but the better prospect is clearly Calandagan who has more Group 1 wins to come.
