Sydney Can Triumph At Market Rasen

By Charlie McCann

CONDITIONS at are sure to be testing for Tuesday afternoon’s jumps card and Carry On Sydney (1.20) can go one better than on debut when runner up to ‘s Fred candidate Dawalan at Newbury.

Whilst that juvenile hurdle wasn’t the strongest ever witnessed at the Berkshire track the selection can only improve and should, again, finish in front of Astrum who was back in fourth on what was also his first start over timber.

Very little decent hurdles’ form to go on in the mares’ maiden hurdle and a chance is taken on hurdles debutante Lilly’s Legend (1.50) who must have shown some ability at home as she has gone off quite a short price on both Bumper starts where she has shown a decent level of form. Be My Present wears a hood for the first time on her first outing for Rose Dobbin and looks the danger alongside Lucy Wadham’s Rising Teal.

Shimla Dawn (2.20) can give weight and a beating to his eight rivals in the novice hurdle over 2m 5f; the selection won over C&D on his penultimate start before improving again to finish runner up in a decent Wetherby handicap last time. The unexposed Panama Petrus looks the danger given he represents the powerful Venetia Williams yard and he ran a cracker returning from a 12 month lay-off at Towcester back in November and has been given the best part of three months to get over those exertions.

Gallic Warrior is stepped back up in trip on his handicap debut and could be very well handicapped for shrewd . A winner of a Bumper on soft ground he has shaped with promise over timber but the vote goes to Saffron Wells (2.50) who looks very well handicapped on his handicap debut for Neil King. The selection cost £52,000 at Cheltenham sales last April and he has bits of Bumper form which stand out in this grade. He is a confident selection.

The limited handicap chase is a cracker and a market move for Mystifiable would be worth noting but I hope Benefit cut (3.20) can build on his excellent chase debut when runner up off a 2lb lower mark. The selection is certainly bred for the job and jumped well at until a stumble two out. As long as he didn’t get embroiled in a battle for the lead he must go well in a hot little race.

Divine Intavention finished runner up in the Foxhunters’ Chase at the and could be absolutely thrown in off his current mark having his first start for Martin Keighley who had a welcome winner at yesterday. He looks sure to go off a warm order, however, and taffy Thomas (3.50) has won twice at today’s track including over C&D and is 6lbs lower than when last successful.

The Peter Bowen could be in better form but the selection is well treated on his best form and is taken to return to winning ways. McCoy gets the leg up on Honest John for local trainer Steve Gollings but was a big disappointment at Doncaster last time and is best watched at present.

At Aramadyh (4.30) can build on her second to mark Johnston’s unexposed Sir Charlie Kunz at Wolverhampton last time for James Tate; the selection is improving and can beat another Johnston inmate Pacquita who steps up in trip having won over a mile at Southwell from a 4lbs lower mark last time.
