The news broke on Saturday that the brilliant Treve would put her date with Dubawi on hold for at least another 12 months as connections have decided to keep her in training as a 5-year-old and aim her at an unprecedented third Arc success in Paris next October. We at BetVictor have introduced her into the Arc betting at 6/1 (from 8s) for an unprecedented third success at Longchamp.
Today’s card at Salisbury is subject to a 7.15 precautionary inspection but the executive are optimistic their six-race card will get the green light and the feature is a 7f Conditions event. The filly Seolan was unbeaten in two starts in Ireland but has her first start in 729 days for Roger Charlton having fetched Paddy Prendergast in Ireland 320,000 Guineas at Tattersalls’ Sales back in October 2012.
Her subsequent absence from the track is a concern but she won a Listed contest for Paddy Prendergast at the Curragh on her second start on heavy ground and is a fascinating contender although she is entitled to come on for her comeback.
Tawhid (4.00) must give weight away all round and has been called some rude names in the past but Ryan Moore takes the mount on this mudlark who was gelded before his last start when runner up at Redcar earlier in the month. Today’s softer ground will suit and all three career wins have been on soft ground in September or October.
As a son of Authorized Boite (5.00) should relish underfoot conditions in the finale. The selection finished third to subsequent St Leger and Ascot Gold Cup winner Leading Light last year and looks to be returning to a winning mark. Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam won a big handicap at HQ at the weekend and has his string in excellent form of late.
At Windsor Miniskirt (3.00) has been off the track since running a race full of promise when runner up over 7f on heavy ground 12 months ago at Salisbury on debut. Trainer Rae Guest is a master with fillies and although the selection is not guaranteed to appreciate the step up to a mile she can land each way support in a competitive maiden.
Viceroyalty (5.10) is out of a Sadler’s Wells mare and might appreciated the forecast soft ground for Charlie Appleby; the colt never got competitive over 12f at Leicester last time despite finishing runner up (beaten 9L) but if he appreciates today’s surface he must go close with top-weight Raven Ridge considered the biggest danger despite having been a beaten market leader on his last three starts.
The jumps action comes from Sedgefield and the famous colours of Terry Warner, who were in the winner’s enclosure at Newmarket on Saturday in the Cesarewitch courtesy of Big Easy, can land the opener with French import L’Aigle Royal (2.10) who won a 3-y-o hurdle at Nancy for Guillaume Macaire back in May. Donald McCain’s Sindarban is the obvious danger on debut given he showed ability on the level for Michael Halford in Ireland and cost 42,000 Guineas when sold last month.
Shady Sadie(3.10) is 2lb better off with Solway Dornal on recent Perth running over 3m and this shorter trip will suit the Rose Dobbin trained runner mare who remains a maiden after eleven starts going into days contest.
