Bens Today & Saturday Tips
Friday
I’ve been waiting for both of my selections today to reappear after marking both down as horses to follow after their first runs of the season/career. STANAGE is first up and being such a well related colt, many would have had their eye on him on his debut run at Doncaster. Market weakness suggested he wouldn’t have been tuned up to win that race but an educational ride where he made up loads of late ground showed me enough to suggest he is more than capable of winning a race of this nature. 4/1 this morning is more than fair.
CLOCKMAKER ran a very encouraging race in behind the ill fated Hidden Law on his debut and given what that horse went on to do then he is a justified short price favourite today. That experience would certainly have stood to him and I expect him to take a few steps forward today and take all the beating.
Newbury 3.30 – Stanage
Newbury 4.00 – Clockmaker
Saturday
Not much catches my eye this Saturday but looking at the early prices I think GORAK is over priced in the 2.40 at Newmarket. Back down to a more reasonable mark now he ran a very respectable race last time despite the race working against him. Granted a more conventional run here I think he can edge out the in form favourite Divine Libra late on.
Having already backed SIYOLA for the Oaks I was quite happy to see Secret Satire win the Musidora this week to give her form a big boost. John Gosden’s filly now takes her next step towards Epsom as she runs at Newbury tomorrow in what has been quite a strong race down the years. It certainly looks like no gimme tomorrow but I fancy Siyola to come on a bundle from her debut where she was strong at the finish. Natural progression from that should make her hard to beat.
Newmarket 2.40 – Gorak
Newbury 5.15 – Siyola
