It’s back to reality after a fantastic week at
Royal Ascot. The bread and butter meetings at Thirsk and Ayr take centre stage
today and although they lack quality, it’s still mighty competitive.
I’ve
only mustered up a fancy for one today and that is GRANDEE who runs at Thirsk. Roger Fell’s horse has had his problems
in the past but this has led to him dropping back down the handicap and off his
current mark of 85 he should be winning soon. Connections have played around
with his distance but I think this 1m 4f trip is just about right for him and
he was a big eye catcher last time out at Newmarket. He stayed on nicely from
the back of the pack in a race which has worked out well and this task today
represents a slight step down in class. A repeat of that performance should put
him bang there today.
