The rapid rise of apprentice jockey Billy Loughnane even saw him featured on BBC News the day after he had ridden his third treble of the season at Newcastle.
With his claim already down to 5lb and a long way clear in the All-Weather apprentice standings, and fifth overall, the decision was taken for him to take a break from race-riding and to go to the United States to ride trackwork for a few weeks before returning to the UK in preparation for the turf season which begins on April 1.
