We hit the crossbar twice yesterday but bagged one winner although he benefited from two non runners. I’m hoping to return to the winner’s enclosure today with two fairly strong punts.
First up is THE PINK’N who is a double figure price at the time of writing. There is only two places on offer which is a slight negative but I think he has a right chance. For me the favourite here, Allmankind, is the lay of the day. How many times do these good four year olds train on? Not many is the answer and for that reason I just can’t have him at 7/4. It’s a similar story with a few of these and there are some on their season debut also so my selection who has race fitness is fancied to upset the odds. He was a tidy enough juvenile last year but showed improved form when chasing home the classy Thyme Whyte at Chepstow on his return. That form is strong and for that reason I’m backing him to go close here.
I have a lot of respect for Tobefair today but i just can’t get away from FLINCK who looks weighted to go close. He ran in the Silver Trophy last time out, a race which works out well year in year out so is respected for that reason alone. But after looking beat up the straight as they quickened, he stayed on remarkably well for third and without seeing the times, I can tell you he ran the fastest final two furlongs which suggests this step up in trip should suit. The handicapper has left him on the same mark and with that run behind him I think he will go very close today.
