Harrison, Endless Time and Order Of St George are the top 3 favourites to claim victory in the Royal Ascot, according to brand new research by My Racing.
Looking through the ancestry of all the Royal Ascot Gold Cup runners, the team at My Racing wanted to explore whether a strong family history of race success, can help predict a modern day race winner.
Taking into account all major race wins, the Ascot Ancestry web app analyses four previous generations of the Ascot Gold Cup starting field and ranks which is most likely to win based on the number of major race winners in the family tree.
With a grand total of 92 ancestor wins, Harrison is the surprise favourite, closely followed by Endless Time in second with 86 ancestor wins and the bookies firm favourite, Order Of Saint George in third with 86 ancestor wins.
Order Of Saint George is placed below Endless Time due to an inferior win record: Endless Time has 11 graded race wins to Order Of St George’s 8.
At the other end of the scale, Sweet Selection is ranked as the least likely to win, with only 43 ancestor wins, followed by She Is No Lady, with 47 ancestor wins and Sheikhzayedroad, with 48 ancestor wins.
James Prosser, Co-founder of My Racing said; “Should Harrison triumph in the Royal Ascot Gold Cup on Thursday, we’ll expand our utilisation of ancestral data when researching our tips and predictions.”
The complete list of competitors ranked by their ancestor’s wins is as follows:
Harrison 92
Endless Time 86
Order Of St George 86
Nearly Caught 81
Big Orange 80
Simple Verse 78
Prince Of Arran 73
