Trainer Bryan Smart has revealed he is currently searching to find a race that will suit Excellently Poised.
Excellently Poised, who is part-owned by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, produced a fantastic performance on debut last month to win a five-furlong race at Musselburgh.
The two-year-old finished three quarters of a length ahead of the Richard Fahey-trained Requinto Dawn in second while Karl Burke‘s Rockin Fella was almost four lengths adrift of the winner.
The colt has been patiently waiting in the wings since that victory and Smart says he is hoping to get a run in before potentially taking his charge to Royal Ascot.
“Obviously we’re thinking of Ascot at this stage,” he was quoted as saying sportinglife. “I trained his dam (Excelette) and she was very good. I’ll just have a look and see what is about for him.
“At the moment I’m very happy with him and he seems like a nice horse.”
