Terre tipped for big things

Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek feels Terre has all the breeding to be a decent horse after her Saint-Cloud debut on .

The two-year-old finished second in the Douve Stakes on her first outing, with only Musawaah, trained by Head-Maarek’s brother, Freddy Head, better on the day.

The daughter of Motivator is a full-sister to the dual Prix de winner , who retired 12 months ago after finishing fourth to in Europe’s premier middle-distance contest.

Under Thierry Jarnet, Terre was two-and-a-half lengths behind the winner but Head-Maarek believes she will improve and could become a superstar in her own right.

“She was very green. Jarnet said she was looking at everything through the race and that is what she is like in the morning, but she ran well,” she said.

“When he gave her a slap, she went straight and did well to finish second.

“She was not blowing afterwards, she was fine, so I might give her one more run this year.

“To be Treve would be difficult, but when she knows what she needs to know, she could be a nice filly.”
