Harry Herbert has confirmed that Shalaa is on course to return to action in time for October’s Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot.
Herbert, racing manager to owners Al Shaqab Racing, has given a positive update on the progress of the three-year-old, who has not featured so far this season because of a pelvic injury.
He has confirmed that the John Gosden-trained son of Invincible Spirit, who won the last season’s Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes, has been cantering and looks set for the planned Ascot outing.
Herbert added: “If he has a completely uninterrupted preparation, then there is a possibility that he might come back for the Champions Sprint – so long as John and the yard are happy with him.
“I would say at this stage he looks fantastic and is moving well.”
