The new Hanagan & Co syndicate will be raising money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Esteemed former dual champion flat Jockey and Director of Racing at The Good Racing Company, Paul Hanagan, has launched his first ever ownwership syndicate.
The Hanagan & Co syndicate will sell shares in Havana Oaks, a promising 2-year-old mentally sharp filly with a sprinter’s action and touch of class. This new syndicate offers enthusiasts the first opportunity to co-own a horse with a former dual champion flat Jockey.
The Hanagan & Co ownership syndicate is the fifth charity partnership to launch under The Good Racing Company, who are behind the successful horses for causes for Rob Burrow and various Motor Neurone Disease charities and injured jockey Graham Lee.
Hanagan handpicked Havana Oaks. She’s from the sire Havana Grey, who is proving to be one of the best young stallions in the world, having 22 stakes winners from only three crops of foals, and the stallion of The Good Racing Company’s very own superstar, Alfa Kellenic. Havana Oaks’ dam, Renaissance won as a two-year-old and was placed six times.
Paul Hanagan
Paul Hanagan, who became Director of Racing at The Good Racing Company in August 2023 says: “I’m really excited to finally launch my own ownership syndicate .
It’s been something I’ve been considering for a while now, but I’ve been waiting for the right time and the right horse.
Everything seems to have fallen into place with Havana Oaks, and I’m feeling confident she’s going to perform well.
“Havana Oaks is appropriately named after her sire, Havana Grey, and one of the biggest winners of my career, The English Oaks at Epsom, on Taghrooda. With a lineage like that how can we go wrong?”
As with all syndicates and clubs offered by The Good Racing Company profits will be shared with a new charity partner: Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
They provide state-of-the-art emergency response air ambulances for the protection of lives across Yorkshire.
Their helicopters fly 365 days per year and respond to around 1,700 incidents each year, many of which involve horse riding or racing injuries.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Paul continues: “Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a fantastic charity that relies on donations from the public. I’m delighted to partner with them through my first ownership syndicate.
“I’ve met some of their dedicated response teams and heard about some of the disasters they have flown into.
“It’s brave and highly skilled work, and it’s saved the lives of people I’ve known. I can’t think of a more fitting charity to partner with.”
The Good Racing Company was set up in October 2020 following rugby player Rob Burrow’s terrible Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis. Its aim was to tap into the passion of the racing community to raise money for an athlete facing life-changing news. To date it has raised nearly £200,000 for MND causes.
Phil Hawthorne, founder of The Good Racing Company says: “My aim is to build a community that enjoys thrill of race horse ownership and all of the drama that comes with it, whilst helping the causes that matter most to people.
“The partnership with Yorkshire Air Ambulance is our fifth charity partnership and we have high hopes that we’ll be able to make regular donations to support their vital work.”
